Traffic Alert
VicRoads asks drivers to take care on the roads with flash flooding, pot holes and debris occurring on parts of the major freeways and highways.
VicRoads is urging drivers to exercise caution when travelling roads in South Western and Western Victoria with the extreme weather conditions forecasted for this afternoon and tonight.
Sections of the Western Freeway, Western Highway, Princes Highway West and Glenelg Highway have been affected by flash flooding, debris on the road and pot holes opening up.
Roads currently closed due to flooding include:
Camperdown-Cobden Road, Bostocks Creek
Cobden-Port Campbell Road, Cobden to Port Campbell
Woolsthorpe-Heywood Road, near Back Creek
VicRoads is working with emergency services to monitor road conditions and maintain road safety on affected roads.
Drivers are urged to take extra care when driving on the roads in the area. Roads may be slippery so drivers should slow down, drive according to the conditions, turn on their headlights if visibility is impaired and leave a greater distance between their own car and the one in front. There may also be debris on roads due to expected strong winds.
Drivers are encouraged to check local road conditions prior to travelling and to listen to local radio reports for information whilst in the car.
VicRoads will provide road and traffic updates as soon as they are available. 11/08/2010 12:53 PM Until 11/08/2010 3:53 PM
