UPDATE 26/08/20 3.37pm - The road has been reopened between Omeo and Mount Hotham.
Due to heavy snow and fallen trees in the Mount Hotham area, the Great Alpine Road remains closed between Harrietville and Mount Hotham. The road should be reopened at approximately 6.00am Friday 27 August.
Drivers are asked to remember that some roads in alpine areas may be affected by snow, ice or fog and drivers should carry chains and fit them if required.

UPDATE 26/08/10, 3.41pm: Road reopened to 4WD only south of Nariel after the earlier snow and fallen trees
Workers are still on site clearing the debris. The road is restricted to 4WD vehicles only at this stage.
Drivers are reminded that roads in the area may be slippery and drivers should slow down, drive according to the conditions and leave a greater distance between their own car and the one in front.
Drivers should also always carry snow chains when travelling through alpine areas.

All lanes currently blocked westbound near Greenwood Street due to a multiple vehicle crash.
The right-hand lane is also blocked eastbound by Emergency Services. Delays eastbound are currently from the Tullamarine Freeway through to Greenwood Street.
VicRoads Incident Response Service are on the way to site.
Traffic is heavy both directions on approach to the incident.

UPDATE, 5.25pm: Police have closed the Pascoe Vale Road Altona-bound entry ramp.
VicRoads Incident Response Service are diverting traffic onto the left-hand lane and the left-hand emergency lane.
Emergency services are still on site.
VicRoads advises drivers to expect heavy delays beginning just before Sydney Road to the crash.
